The NFL Alumni/Fierce Life Youth FLY Football Camp invited to serve 160 underserved Middle School Boys & Girls of the Hayward Unified School District!
Will You Join Us?
Fierce Life Youth/NFL Alumni NorCal announces a New Partnership with the Hayward Unified School District to put on a FLY Football Camp for underserved Middle School Boys & Girls at the Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School on Saturday, April 1, 2023!!
This Special FLY Football Camp will serve a unique group of 12 & 13-year-old boys & girls, at the beautiful, nearly new facilities of the Martin Luther King Jr-Middle School in Hayward. With the full and enthusiastic support of the Principal, Teachers, and Staff of MLK Jr- Middle School, we have been guaranteed more than 150 kids that we will be serving! Nearly all of these kids have an incarcerated parent, come from single-parent or lower-income families, and have multiple risk factors in their lives; several of these kids are living in foster homes with some who are actually living in homeless shelters. The Common denominator is that these kids are already really excited about this Special Opportunity to participate in a FLY Football Camp!
What are the criteria to be a Volunteer Coach?
Do you have a background as a College or Professional football player or current/former Professional, College, or High School Football Coach? WE NEED YOU! We need a minimum of 50 Volunteer Coaches to make the FLY Football Camp the best that it can be!
What is the role of a Volunteer Coach?
Can you give an encouraging word? Can you slap 'em a "high five" when they make a catch or pat them on the back and tell them "great job" when they don't? Do you remember those "Every Day Drills" that we used to consider pure drudgery? Well for boys and girls like these, learning and performing those same drills with "Legends of the Game", like you, is fun, fun, fun! Most important, the Volunteer Coaches' role is to lift the kids up...because sometimes when we lift a kid up, they discover the freedom and courage to dream big dreams!
What will the day look like?
Following the Football Drills, all the kids, coaches, volunteers, parents, and adult chaperones/caregivers will be treated to a hearty lunch and the signature FLY Football "Lifting Kids Up" Ceremony at the end of the day.
What time do I need to be there?
We request that volunteers arrive no later than 7:30 a.m.be ready to greet the kids when they arrive. The event will end at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Do I need to register in advance?
YES! All Coaches must register in advance. Due to the nature of the event, working with children, all volunteers will be background-checked. Volunteering on-site registration is not available.
I still have questions, who can I ask?
You may email William.Anderson@Alumni.Stanford.edu or call Coach Billy Anderson @ (510) 779-4046
